SMILE
By Javon Edwards
Your smile alone brings out
the youthful spirit in me.
The intense surge you
bring.
Has ignited my heart.
Your realm has pumped new
life in me.
You are the first person i
see when i wake up.
You are the last person i
see going to sleep.
I love how your smile
illuminates my day.
Like a reflection of
sunlight that passes through my way.
Similar to an elegant
theme.
The brightness in your
smile brings infinite comfort.
Unfolding my universe to
the core.
Resemblance of a stellar
light.
As i walk through the door.

When Two Hearts Know
Marcia Schechinger
Love is an accident,
an experience, an emotion
A night not expected
when two strangers sit and tell stories
A rolling of the tongue
that sweetens every word
A slight touch of the arm
that melts the flesh with warmth
A laugh, a smile
Eyes meeting in rapture
unaware of their surroundings
A night when the clock has no meaning
and the day is dreaded
When two hearts know
exactly why they were put on this earth
To listen and be with this one person- forever
It happens so quietly like when the moon curves

IF YOU COULD SEE HER THRU MY EYES
by chasity
if you ever watched her cry in her palms...
you'd understand how she's beautiful.
and if you ever felt her die in your arms...
you'd feel power by knowing you've seen her weak.
you'd know the secret in the lies that she lives-
and why she won't give the love she don't give,
but i need to tell her she failed...
cuz i felt her love me.
and every day i feel her loving me.

trey ----
for my dear friend trey who died recently ----i love you trey
Raven Grashouse
you are gone but all is here
unknowning of what we had
by the sea is were your soul shall carry
and you can spread your wings
now and forever
holding on so tight and so dear
and with every breath i take
i think of you
now i sit here looking at your picture
and i cry because that was your last smile
but now i have to let go and say goodbye
so hard on my soul this is
but it had to come
this world is were i shall stay until my time comes
but now you can fly and free your soul
so goodbye goodbye my dear friend and soon
we shall meet again

I miss you still
Infinite tears
Songs, memories, places
Always present
Wanting to escape
No where to run...No where to turn
Broken hearted
Too scared to fight...Too scared to loose
I miss you still
Years gone by
Tears are distant and tears are few
I think of you
Where are you?...How’s your life?
Wondering what memories you cherish,
Which you have chosen to forget,
I too have those, which I choose and choose not to
Remember and forget
I miss you still

My Dad
Shawn McDonald
My dad is 65 today
Last night and 40 years ago he read to me.
His voice painted my world with words
In his arms everything was right
My dad is 65 today
Yesterday and decades ago we were walking in the woods,
My hand in his, he was a young giant
I was wide eyed and raw, with everything new, safe with my Dad
My Dad is 65 today
Last week and a lifetime ago he taught me to ride my bike
I was a scared kid in firm hands he trusted and loved
By trusting him I learned to start trusting myself
My Dad is 65 today
This morning and decades ago he was getting ready for work
He was the best carpenter in the world
I didn’t understand then why he seemed so tired sometimes
I do now
My Dad is 65 today
Last night and many nights ago I was lost
The train wreck that was becoming my life was out of control
Simple and to the point, he helped me help myself
Always there…always Dad
My Dad is 65 today
And this morning and not so long ago he held his first grandchild
My son in the arms of my Dad
Painting the memory of a lifetime
My Dad is 65 today
And the time of his Winter has begun
I find I miss him more
I worry more about him
My Dad is 65 today
And today I realize how very blessed I’ve been
I am and always have been proud to be his “boy”
I love my Dad

NOT REALLY THERE
BY AMANDA
When you call me by that name
I feel I'll go insane
As the anger hurts my ears, my hearts' bursting with tears
What did i do now?
You'll say its me, somehow
I feel obstacles are endless
in this life that you call home
But there's no one who could help you ,your obviously alone
Through your misery of living, its brought nothing but tears
You've hurt me so bad these past few years
Your killing my heart , your breaking my soul
I guess life is really outta my control
So what is this, i guess, you don't understand your mess
So what it is, i guess, you're unfortunately depressed
I'm sorry you won't listen, I'm sorry you don't care
There's no one that loves you more, but you never see me there
Stop saying ur right
stop sayin im wrong
there's something wrong with you
believe me this once
So this last time I'm begging
for you to understand
life without living is beyond who i am
Stop denying the truth
Stop all that you've done
Apologize for what you did
and what is right shall be done

To Love Me
Malinda Ratliff
To love me is to ...
adore me, admire me, believe in me, be
one with me, caress me, cherish me,
complete me,delight in me, devour
me, elope with me, evolve with me,
fall for me, feel me,grow with me,
guard me, have faith in me,hope
for me, ignite me, intertwine
with me, jump for me,keep me, kiss me,
like me,listen to me, move me,
make love with me, need me, nestle me,
open up to me, offer me, paint
me,poetize for me, quest for me,
quote me, respect me, reflect me,
sacrifice for me, saturate in me,
tantalize me, trust me,understand me, undenyingly want me,vow to me,
vitalize me, walk with me, worship me,
yearn for me. To simply love me

Born a Slave
Wamwea Muciiri
From the womb locked up in chains
Born a slave in this hell pit world
Where evil thrives in the minds of men
Where wicked acts run tolerated
Where the ways of life should be X-rated
Children enslaved, starved and half beaten to death
Women rights spit on and degraded
Female status leveled down to a chicken’s status
Young girls hustling pussy for wicked cash
Young boys turned into dope feens
Barely eighteen and already a mother
Bluntly pregnant, boyfriend broke the rubber
Can’t be a father he just a one day lover
Born a slave in this hell pit world
Out the womb and cuffed in hell bound chains
I cry to you oh lord, break these chains
Can’t picture hell, this is already hell
Born a slave, I want heaven not hell but only you god can tell
Break these chains!!!!

SECRET HILL
BY PETER MCGANN
A VIEW APPEARS OF THE SECRET HILL
HIDDEN BY LACE AND FRILLS
SUPPORTING A JELLY IN A MOULD
TOO TOUCH IT WOULD BE SO BOLD
I GAZE INTENTLY AS IT RISES
HAVE SEEN IT THEM BEFORE BUT STILL SURPRISES
IT LOOKS LIKE A BLAMONGE COVERED IN SUGAR
YES IM PLEASED TOO SEE YOU OR IS IT MY LUGER
I STARE AWAY I FEEL SO BAD
BUT HAVE TO SEE THEM AGAIN AS IM FEELING SAD
A FORBIDDEN VIEW OF THE SECRET HILL
THAT LITTLE GLIMPSE WAS SO BRILL

My life was changed the day i met you
We grew closer and closer
Till we couldn't stand to be apart
I could not live without you
You are my angel that keeps me alive
You are my my best friend
And that will never change

SOMETHING
By Tasha Roberts
I thought I had lost the fight
Darkness surrounded me, blocked out the light.
For once I was alone left in the cold
To survive I had to succumb my fears and be bold.
Decided to move on and start anew
Where my past and failures no one knew.
Just could not forget my only memory of you
Of the passion on your face that felt so true.
With a letter,I heard your voice again
Asking me how I've been.
Words I so longed to hear once more
Before I knew it,you were walking through my door.
Something has brought you back here to me
What exactly no one knows but eventually will see.
Of the love and passion on our faces that show
Till this day, that "something" will always flow.

Your hair jet black,
Your eyes so deep,
Your lips but blue ,
My heart just weeps ,
Your life so dark
You cannot see ,
Your face so white
I long to be ,
Your heart so torn
As if you’re me,
With dreams all shattered
And home but broke
You long for one
That feels too,
Torn
With hope all fading ,
And eyes but blind ,
With touch no feeling ,
You pray for light,
With life all leaving,
Leaving into the night,
And you still sit praying,
Praying for light,

Just wanting to look for soul, But seeing the past just to bring it
down, Confusion of how I started so right, But in my denial I ended by down,
Dealing through my troubles I placed myself with. I set along some straight
face, lying to a new. Each and every single day controlling what I'v known
inside. Relationships we've known inside, not incasted the same, typical by
lust , cheats, lies, and hate. Therefore never typically the same. Denial by
excuses by situations covered within truth in mind. Forgetting respect,
loyalty by all, responsibilities with hopes and faith, repeats and similarities,
couple after couple. But never the less truth will slip and spill the love in
and out til' it'll run hearts by temptations never leaving your side. Holding
so close, never not a hand in hand, worse comes to worse, pours out and burst,
telling all the hate, all that pain, broken in by soul. A loveless love out of
it's heart givin' it a reason to set so apart. Leaving by in-loneliness but
uncoverin' through new. Time and time again will pass not as quickly until'
love has fulfilled a new. Seeking and founding impeccable desires with ones
taste by minds to set me up by my moods hate and pain within' trust and love.

My Darling Imzadi
Lori C
Wishing you was here...
I am all alone...
My Darlin', Imzadi...
You are the one...
You bring out the best in me.
You brought out things that you could see
Only you knew the real true me...
I know that you always believe..
In love...
My Darlin', Imzadi...
You are the one...
You gave me things, hope bein' the best
You took away... My hurtfulness...
I can't live without you...
Ohh, that is so true.
My Darlin', Imzadi...
You are the one...
Your voice has that sweetness
that only you could bring.
You care such deepness
in your faith and meanings.
My Darlin', Imzadi...
You are the one...
I wouldn't know what to do
Nor how to live without you.
I couldn't try, even if I did believe...
(in miracles) in you... young one.
My Darlin' Imzadi...
You are the one...

Always a Memory
Bryon
I know I could've had another night
if I'd had the right words to say
we made love that final time
then we went our separate ways
I still remember the nights of passion
they stay on my mind
just like your amazing beauty
remember when it was still mine
those nights all faded away
leaving only a lonely memory
always made my nights
feel so incredibly tender
we left out of out of this world
passion would make us surrender
all of the things that we did
that were called illegal
are now left behind us
under an empty steeple
we had so many nights
that we spent together
they're all left to memory
for me to see forever

In the dead universe
tri tran
My world, so dark
That the naked eyes cannot see;
Wearing white, a blank agestares
At my wandering soul.
Lost in the wilderness of life
Without days, but only nights,
My empty mind searches for feelings,
I, a tree, bearing neither foliages nor flowers.
Magenta and auburn lurk in the gloomy sky,
Sadness and loneliness, written on their shines,
Silence, a sick bee, buzzes all the times,
Ash and dust, forever fill my gentle heart.

TODAY, BUTTEREYES
lisa charlotte
butter eyes
she licks up every look
glances, cant get passed her
stares and equal glares
fire walls put up in defense
"what yer trying to hide? yer scared aintcha?"
of what...(him)
indeed, indeed what can i do?
run.keep on running, from a fate held upon me
glowing torches in eyes, you create music in your walk
you words float around you
in hot humid nights, they never sink
your hot heavy breath against my white washed skin
nearly invisible stuck here

INNER PRIDE
TEWANA PASSMORE
Live for you...
Live for the midnight eyes,
that hold many mysteries.
Live for the thickness that is your hair,
that is as natural as your history
Live for your nose, though wide yet unique
Live for the fullness of your lips,
which are the entry way to the power you
hold
Live for the strength held within your hands,
whose lines show of past struggles
Live for the feet that held you up when others tried to push you down
Live for the brown sugar that is your skin,
which is the foundation of your indiviuality
Live for the mirror image you see
from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet
Live for every inch that is you...
the mystery, the pride, the strength, and most of all...
the gift of undeniable individuality.

Lost
Tatiana Morales
Days go by as my childhood passes,
from skating rinks to fifty lashes.
His eyes do no wrong, piercing and strong.
No pain can come from these black beauties.
Take the role of my missing father,
my age is young but i've lived longer.
It's no wonder that in those few years,
I cried millions of tears.
For my love and my passion,
there were some bruises and some scratches.
He said his love was real,
He said the bruises would heal.
At the park just before dark,
what do i see?
Classmates on rollerskates,
while is sit in the arms
of the one who brings harm.
Thirteen and already have lost dreams
while i tend to baby screams.

My Stomach hurts like a b*tch!
Missing you makes me feel like sh*t.
How am I supposed to to last another day,
without seeing you face to face?
When can feel you soft face?
When can I taste your sweet kiss?
When I see you at last,
Our time goes so fast.
Why cant our time go slow?
So our love can grow.
When I think of you my heart starts to beat fast.
How can I make our time last?
When can I feel your body against mine?
When can we take our time?
I will love you with all my heart,
even if we grow apart.

MAKING BED
Johnson Wood
Meticulous, he is, making the bed,
pulling up the top sheet, grasping the cloth where
the column of red flowers marches up the middle,
just as she had shown him,
drawing it tight from the tucked-in foot.
Hands, fingers dry and stiff with age, tug the corners
to smooth away the diagonal wrinkles.
He draws the single blanket up even with the top of the sheet,
folds them down together, smoothes the new-formed collar
eight inches wide as measured from pinky to thumb
of his out stretched hand because that’s how she liked it.
Then the pillows, two by two, the plumper pair for her side.
They hide the just formed new collar of bed clothes
but he knows that it is there, and that it is neat.
He tucks the belly of extra blanket under the mattress
at the foot and throws the worn chenille bedspread over all,
the one they bought on the trip to Biloxi all those years ago,
places it precisely, centered from side to side,
the green vase of flowers, faded now to pastel,
exactly halfway between the pillows and the foot of the bed.
He steps back to survey the job, frowns, shakes his head,
tugs out one last wrinkle.
“That should do it,” he says. ‘”That’s good enough.”
and wonders, as his voice seems to echo in the empty house,
why it matters anymore.

TRUE FRIENDS
lee butler
WE HAVE FRIENDS THAT WE KNOW
THAT ARE NEVER AFRAID TO SHOW
JUST HOW MUCH THEY MEAN TO US
WHEN CALLED ON THEY COME IN A RUSH
SOME OF OUR FRIENDS ARE BUSY AT TIMES
BUT WE KNOW THAT WHEN WE ARE APART
WE WILL ALWAYS BE IN THEIR HEART
WHEN WE OPEN OUR E-MAIL OR OPEN A CHAT OR EVEN GETTING A TEXT MESSAGE, FROM
ALL THE THINGS THAT KEEP US IN CLOSE CONTACT
WE GET SMILES EVER SO BIG WHEN WE KNOW IT’S FROM THEM.
SITTING AND LISTENING WHEN NEEDED
KNOWING WHEN TO GIVE A TISSUE WITH EACH TEAR
KNOWING WHEN GIVE A PAT ON THE BACK WITH EACH JOB WELL DONE
OR JUST A HUG WHEN THE DAY IS DONE.
ALL THESE THINGS ARE NEVER ASKED FOR BUT ARE GIVEN FROM THE HEART.
ITS LIKE BEING PART OF THEIR FAMILY, AS WE HAVE OUR DAILY CHATS
EVERYDAY IS ALMOST LIKE A NEXT CHAPTER OF A BOOK IN THEIR LIFE YOU WILL BE
HERE TO PICK UP WHERE YOU LEFT OFF TO CONTINUE
ON AS IF NEITHER OF YOU HAVE BEEN APART
SO IF YOU HAVE NEVER SAID HOW MUCH YOUR FRIENDS MEAN TO YOU
TAKE THE TIME NOW, FOR It’s OK IF THE WORDS ARE FEW JUST
LET THEM KNOW NOW SO THEY TOO WILL KNOW THE JOY YOU HAVE IN YOUR HEART FOR
THEM
THANK YOU ALL MY FRIENDS FOR BEING THERE FOR ME FOR WITHOUT YOU I WOULD NOT
BE ME
BIG HUGS TO YOU ALL

I Know
Deanna Blakemore
I know that you hurt, but I can't help not to flirt. Your so sweet and
complete. I always compare and just want to stare. I always compete, and
always get beat. I say I could die, then you walk by. You said that you'd
call, but didn't at all. How could you hurt me, when you know I love, I know
you do, I also know that you love me too!!!!

WHERE FROM THIS FEELING?
Akoli Penoukou
In your embrace I found ecstasy
In your eyes I fathomed the depth of the oceans
In your voice I knew the strength of my heartstrings;
By the touch of your breasts broke goose pimples over me
By the taste of your mouth knew I the tickling in the head
By the warmth of your surrender taste I the height of Eros;
But where from this thing that I feel now,
This painful throbbing in the heart, this weakening in the body,
This flight of the appetite, this desire to shed an ocean of tears?

I watch as the sun goes down
i listen for your voice
but there's no sound
why did you go
and leave ne in this dead town
anywhere but here is where i`d rather be
if anyone could
that's what you could see
i miss how you tell jokes to cheer me up
and the way you look when
you know what your talking about
how your laughter says everything
who you are and how you feel
your so perfect
your just unreal
