Mass confusion

Hectic days.
One by one
You plan your stays.
Here one day
Gone the next
Never stop to wonder
What is your pretext.
Have you burdens?
Have you despair?
Why not tell us
Why not share?
All alone,
A slump in your bed
Small flames dance all around your head
One sweet drag
On your thin cigarette
Fills your lungs
With reign and regret
Raise your glass
Of pure poison
Sip, taste, and swallow
Till you have no reason
Before you know it
Your sight goes black
A peaceful dream
Eternity on your back.

Pearl Harbor Poem
By Matthew Kenneth Gray
August 17, 2002

Many people flock to see you,
with memories of their ancestors-
whether they were active in the service,
or they never served, but they knew
someone who did.  Let's not forget
the ones who did serve, but regret not
dying in the attack; they wish they could
have been taken instead because they
saw the pain inflicted on our country
and the families of the dead.  I saw
mementos and gifts inscribed with the
name of their tomb, and it was too much
for me to handle.  Maybe the dead would
have felt honored, that they knew their
ship would become a beloved shrine by
tourists and citizens- but I feel if
my Grandfather Gray's gravesite was
visited by millions each year, I wouldn't
want the cabin to be on tee shirts,
coffee mugs and posters- with newspapers
from the day he died.  What made the trip
to Pearl Harbor special was hearing the
story about the kid who painted a Ferrari
for fifty dollars to buy his mother a present.
She thought that the guy said,
"I'll pay you fifty dollars to paint my Porsche,"
but he said "porch," and she said to the guy
after she painted the beautiful car with rollers,
"It's not a Porsche, it's a Ferrari."

We Are United
Matthew Turbeville
Parts of us feel sad
Parts of us feel good,
For we are reunited
And together we stood
Against chaos and terror,
We are reunited like never before
Terrorists didn't close us in, they opened a new and brighter door.
We walk together, hand in hand
Connected throughout all the land
We stand under God,
the one and only,
for we are no longer lonely.
They took down the Twin Towers,
And we cried for hours.
Instead of destroying me and you,
We have become new.
We lend a hand,
Smile and smile,
One lasting
Quite awhile.
We tell our neighbors,
It is okay,
And approaching
Is a better day.

HUNTING THE PAST TIME
BY SIHAR RAMSES SIMATUPANG

let the sun comes to your eyes
and the moon over your face
because the light which I take
will be death
I will eat seven winds
to be storm,
in every time of your labyrinth.

Rebecca
Chloe Chandler

I saw you in the hallway
I saw you looking for me
And in an instant I saw:
Flashing through my head;
A reunion so full,
So incomprehensible,
I grope to describe,
The feeling within me:
As I saw you enter,
Saw you smile, so happy
To be back, to see my face.
I was alone in that room,
As thirty others looked on
At my dreams made reality.
I couldn’t care for those who sat beside me,
As I embraced you.
And then I saw her turn,
Go back the way she came
And I knew, it wasn’t you
I was mistaken.
I was rent apart in that moment.
Destroyed.
Utter despair replaced my organs.
And I was empty.
When I realized you were a thousand miles away

A WAITING
         Nabakumar Das

I am waiting for a call
The telephone may ring just now
Or within a few minutes
Or today
Or in this  week
Or in this  month
Or
Or...

The call may change my life
It may bring something unknown
I am waiting for it

Everybody waits for it.

The Plan
Dedicated to my mother Janet who died on Mother's day 2002
Beverly
I can’t believe you’re gone you know,
It seems so damned unfair.
That you of all the ones alive,
Would leave to go up there.

I’m angry and I’m so confused,
Why must it have been you?
What purpose did your dying serve?
What evil did you do?

I can’t accept that you’re not here,
It doesn’t make much sense.
You devoted your life to serving Him,
And this is what you get?

But wait, hold on, I think I see,
God needed you with Him
Your time was done upon this earth,
He needed you right then.

Your mission had been satisfied,
Your duties were fulfilled.
You touched a lot of people’s lives,
You carried out His will.

You took my life and molded it,
To glorify His name.
Now it is time I give some back,
It’s time I do the same.

For someone else who doesn’t see,
What God has done for them.
I want to live the way you did,
I want to live for Him.

So now I see there is a plan
I know what I must do
Your life will not have been in vain
I’ll live to serve Him too.

Ancient future past…1
B.BOB.B

Somewhere in the ancient, future, past, present
Will archeologists and historians study and write about our so-called culture?
Will they be disturbed by the way we treated each other and nature?
Will they come to the conclusion that we were not civilized
And neither were our ancestors?
Will they harbor great sadness for the way we treated our mother
And curse the souls of the humans who raped her?
Will they compare us to ancient Rome and Egypt
And discuss how our Monday night gladiators,
Powerful legal drugs, wars and the rumors of wars
Were used to distract the masses from the faces of the
Corporations who were screwing them?
Will they discuss how slaves, I mean the working poor,
Were used to build great pyramid shaped casinos,
To preoccupy the weak in spirit and steal their souls?
Will they figure out why we turned some of our
Brothers and sisters into stars, idols and gods
And let them get away with murder?
I do not no!
But I hope someone will be around to tell the tale
Because we have the power to accidentally wipe out the entire planet,
And no one seems to mind.
That is if nature does not get us first!

MY OTHER RIB
Wanda C. Borders
My other rib, I can't seem to find,
Eve has Adam's,
whose got mine?

I've seen many, but none of them fit
they only want to sample my ribs,
say they're good, that's it.

No more sampling,
letting my ribs go to waste,
if I keep letting others sample them,
their will be nothing left to taste.

So I'm keeping my ribs strong
until my other rib comes along.
Maybe in heaven or here on earth,
my ribs will be like gold, who knows what they will be worth

The Origins of Crumbs
FRANCO MURLS

So the leg bred a foot-
            Perfected, licensed to the leg,
            educated in physical strategies,
humbled by the mass and impenetrability
of buried stones, the foot set out
to learn its own damn history
teach it to myself, it said.
            The larger beast are tricking
            the smaller creatures into pointless
merit keeping- Yes I am connected
            to leg, torso, alphabet
            bureaucracies above.... but...
The foot made progress a short
while walking while the leg demurred,
small accomplishments : the soft shoe,
            rhythmic tapping, sculpting dirt.
Then the leg set its heart against
            the foot..foot, terrified,
            joined in singing the forgive
            me I'm a shit-heel song with
toes and ankle. Likewise the leg
alienate the torso and the torso
removed itself from the club of ribs
neck removed itself from the spine
            spine spoke harshly to head
            head sputtered stupidly
            beneath the battering music
            of nerves..hand holding the glass
of wine fliched, the butter knife
leapt, talking ceased at the table.

White Chocolate
Claudeen Barrett
One bite of white chocolate and I was hooked.
White chocolate there's no escaping your flavor
The smooth, rich creamy taste makes me want you more.
White Chocolate you make me feel so good.
When your lips touch mine
The creamy lustrous flavor sedate my tongue
My taste buds water for more.
Who am I?
I seem to forget myself
When I have some white chocolate
With a smile on my face, sparks in my eyes,
the juices flowing through my body and my toes start to curl
My nook became hooked
I want more.
More of your loving
More of your flavor
Nobody taste and make me feel so good
Then I take another bite,
More of that orgasmic feeling I want to release.
White Chocolate you make me feel so good
The smooth, rich, creamy, taste makes me want you more.
You know I'm yours forever because I can't escape your flavor
Nobody tastes and makes me feel so good.

So Merlot
By: Phoenix

And too dry lips drink deep and pray. In silence revelry is found. A shaking hand whips wine around. Consumed in haste without a sound. Sick-sweet and warm, merlot slides down. This is the blood of one so vast. This is the seal of promise past. This is the great door to the last. The embrace consumes what fear has dashed.

I've sat in this cool room so long I feel blind. My trembling hands shake with memories of unsure, seeking heresies and visionary vagaries. The most consuming mysteries of what I feel inside. The flow of blood and rush of air my veins carry swiftly. The point of what I have been seeking seems to somehow miss me. Can anyone notice the tears I have carried, even under these eyes where I have kept them burried? I feel so rushed, my fate feels hurried. I've suffered from all of the times I have worried. For others, dream lovers, soft hands forming fists. The stares so demanding which I turn to resist. The angry dementia flows in my very wrists. The goblet holds elixer to guide me through this.

Merlot is like satin, feels like that itch in your throat when your body heaves sobs which you do not let flow. The heartache of someone who you can't let go. Would it ever have mattered if you'd let them know? Maybe this has been futile, all this time I have wasted: the belief in true love and the fool way I have chased it. I wish that this blood wine could somehow erase it. Or at least give me strength to stand tall and to face it. The truth is I fail each time I might try. And I feel all the failure, with the merlot, inside. It whips through my veins and comes in streams from my eyes. Is it natural to bleed from your eyes when you cry?

In these moments I'm shaken by what I conceive. I wonder if I ever did truly believe. Does the heart have such powers to coerce and deceive? If I'd reached for her hand would she have turned to leave? Far better I wonder than know what might have been, for I can drink blood wine and build the moment again. That cusp of an instant with my most cherished friend. I find a goblet in my grasp instead of her hand.

I beg of you all with what I still call my heart to finish with courage each emotion you start. Hesitation has slick ways of making friends part. If you love them, please tell them with an honest embrace. Then reach for their hand and look to their face. If this must be the end, at least you can know. As for me I'm rebroken with each glass of merlot.

Prisoner of Love
bucko

You say I make you feel like a prisoner everyday of your life
But what is it going to take to make you realize it's only because I Love You,
You are my wife.

You say i crowd you too much and don't give you enuf space
And i'm here to tell you it's not a matter of privacy, I feel it is just my place.

You don't want me to caress you and hold you tight
But isn't that much better than having a fight?

Don't you know when i say I love you i'm only speaking the truth.
I long for the love like we used to share in the days of our youth.

So if our love is a prison with you and me.
Then lock me up tight my darling and throw away the key.

Bewitched Immortal Love
By: Sylvia Leigh

On a crisp October night
By love's sweet spell I knew,
My world would never be the same,
Beneath the autumn moon.
Bewitching words of love spoke he
To lure me from the light...
With ever-enchanting promises
As solace from my fright.

The longer he whispered, the farther I dared
To follow the path he led,
All the while fighting
A hideous case
Of perpetual fear and dread.

The man - so irresistible,
Well-versed and full of charm,
Swore the world and all it held
Lay waiting in his arms.

Of immortality he spoke,
Of life fit for a queen,
Of wealth untold, magnificent tales
Of places I'd never been.

With all my might, I struggled to fight
The spell of the stranger's eyes,
Willing myself with all that I had,
To run from the stranger's lies.

But blinded by tears and stricken with fright
I sadly could fight no more.
Surrender gave way on that sweet autumn night
To all he had promised before!

With quite a surprising tenderness,
He offered then his hand,
Transporting we two - to greater heights
Just as he had planned.
We danced across the moon...(I swear),
We loved all through the night,
Demanding but one concession
That I sacrifice the light.

You see,
The man who stole my heart
Required so much more....
Destiny deems I walk the night
As never I did before.
By day, I sleep with sweet regret
And wait for evening's fall.
To dance the dance I shan't forget
Each time I hear his call.

                     HOLLOW HEART
                         by Jeff Lutomski

Wondering what to do, cause I fell in love with you.
And now that we are apart.  I wish it didn't start, do you?

It's been awhile, since I'll seen you smile.
Now that's in the past, does love ever last?
I have no clue? Do you?

I know its been too long, but I wish you could hear this song,
Since we split, I never got used to it,
How about you?

Wondering what to do, cause I fell in love with you.

Rainy Day
Michael Deza
Maybe someday
I can look in your eyes
Long enough to see me
And stand
Enamored by your
Inducing silence
Taking shape
By the movement of your lips
Catch you word for word
Feeling sure of this
We press ourselves
Into the scene
At this point
We've found some motivation
To let go of reason
By all means
We let go
And hold on
To our hands we clutch
Heart in heart
So eyes go closed
Guided by
Whispers
And the soft felt finger tips
Hold this breath me
Breathe
And Embrace.
Admire the way
Silence makes you beautiful
Beautiful
Beyond belief

you do your best
with raising me
for everything
i wish i had the key

i've let you down
so many times
and when i was about to
you always saw the signs

now that i'm getting older
and about to leave
oh, God, how i wish
this didn't have to be

but i know
i'm gonna do just fine
out there in the world
full of crime

i've made my
share of mistakes
i've learned stuff the hard way
i assure you is wasn't a piece of cake

i've lost your trust
and hope to get it back
for everyday i pray
for the effort that i lack

i do love you
don't get me wrong
but we've had our hard times
and plenty more to come

you want the best for me
which i understand why
and for that i love yo so much
i never want you to die

but i know that day will come
hopefully not for many years
for that will be the day
i cry ever lasting tears

but to conclude this poem
i give you all my love
you will forever be in my heart
even when you go up above

DARKNESS
Kenneth Coleman

The Darkness is near.
It's coming.
Slow but sure,
It's coming.
It has come to bite you.
Slow but sure,
bite you.
Small bites, mere nibbles, but
It's coming.
It has come to roost in the rafters,
the rafters of our minds.
We left the window open.
It devours the Sun.
It devours our minds.
Small bites, mere nibbles, slow but sure, it
devours you.
The Darkness is near.
It's coming.
Turn on a light,
free the Sun.

Brooding Soul
Justin N.
For seen the day of dawn rising comes, i look into your eyes i see a cool morning sun. The breeze im my mind it wanders as it must, to look upon the hope and hate in all and everyone one of us. So see me now, thyn dreary winter eve, to look upon my frost strewn hair and stop the hate as it breeds right there. So now i say look at me, give me the time and you will see that all thing great and small will one day show us all.

in the moment...
carole phelps

I shared only a moment with you,
But in that moment,
I have been places,
I have never been.
That day we became so close,
To shared the deepest thoughts,
The highest dreams,
The darkest secrets,
With you,
My best friend,
Is,
The day I will never forget,
Or let go.
The way you touched me,
With your mind,
Is the most.
Erotic,
Sensual,
Feeling,
I will never,
Be touched that way again.

My love for you is like a rainbow glowing in every way, sometimes bright and sometimes dark, Red is for the fire in my heart for you ,orange is your favorite color that shines so very bright, yellow is the color twinkling in your eyes, Green is the grass we laid on one hot and summer night, blue is the color of your eyes that shines so very bright, gray is the color of stardust in the sky and violet is the soft touch of your hands when they are in mine.

Strange Like Distance
Bernie McCann

Turning in the silence
to see the remains of the day
vanish in the dusk

You were here once
You remember
things we wouldn't say to each other

replaced by superficial words of support
and promises of days,
months,
and years,
always facing forward

I see you on the street now
you don't even wave
instead your face is strange like distance

I feel the miles inside

JELLIED FISH
by Sean Poslusny

Swimming through this life like some fish in the sea,
Most of us can hardly feel, we're all jellied.
Bring me to the place to be where some of us can live us out some harmony.
Here it comes again, and your head's empty,
Lost your mind again and you're still not free.
Time is passing all around but you're looking through,
Thinking about the things you wish that you could do,now!
Procrastination, everybody's greatest wish-Turn us all into some jellied fish!
Winds blow above but my ecstasy is being where the cool breeze doesn't reach
All the other things they always tried to teach,
only made you want to lose that leash.
Lose authorities and grant your own grand wish,
turn yourself into a jellied fish.
Mindless, timeless hours we'll float so free, living in the deep don't ever bother me.
There's some thoughts in all your heads I want to instigate
But if I told them to you we'd all dissipate
We're jellied, no one's telling us what we'll miss
Surrender, succumb, cause here we come we're jellied fish!
Here come the jellied fish,we're gonna grant your wish, just give us 1kiss.

YOUR FANTASY DREAMT
Ray Musumba

October comes after September

Sadness after Happiness

and Foliage comes of Age.

i reminisce when pleasure came by

euphoria came with tears,

and by the time you were leaving

i had already missed you a life-time

brimming with emotions

but no direction,

the taste of vivacity

now corrodes down my memory,

silent shouts of sad whispers

darken these long lonely nights

as if the scorchous sun's company

will be consciously appreciated...

...with no more tears in my heart,

prospecting in nostalgia is my errand.

     AUTUMN DREAM

Looking up through the trees from where you sat;

remembering our talking this and that;

though distant from this place I choose to be,

I wonder if you're so removed from me

I cannot reach you from where I am at;

the leaves, now mellowed, stems about to break,

in scarlets, yellows, nature's big mistake,

allowing one to see their silent death

their fluttering to ground in autumn's breath,

like plans we almost thought were ours to make;

from where I am, to where I have to find,

in reaching you, the touching of your mind;

so you will think of me, through time, the thief,

as not just one more broke and falling leaf;

but one you might have loved, though left behind.

and I will find a way, as I must do,

that river through the sky to reaching you;

absurd though it might sound, somehow, it seems,

one cannot think of autumn without dreams,

and dreams all have their way of coming true.

GOD WOULD GIVE US GRACE
Troy Edison Tiu Yaw

A weak person should become strong in order to survive the craziness of the society

To gain enough strength & knowledge would help, for one to get over his anxiety;

God would give us sufficient grace to face the problems we can't seem to overcome

Seek His will & pray & only then would His deliverance come!

When you're suffering, never ever think that He's punishing you for your sins

My weak friend just did & the devil grins;

The Lord is the Greatest in the Universe & you should definitely cast all your worries upon Him

Look up to Him where chances of solving your problems aren't slim!

*Life From Afar*
Cody Ramer

I sit now by the light of a candle

Looking at life from the shadows

Spying on it’s meaning

Ease dropping on its pain

Looking for a painless path

A path with out rejection

A path with out deception

Looking for a way to live emotionlessly

Unseen by the world

Untouched by it’s poverty

Watching it from afar

Gazing at it in pain

With glossy eyes, a pain stricken face

Distorted by life’s cruelty

Wishing to stay in the dark

Never wanting to leave my shadow

But cravin love

Needing acceptance

Wanting dreams

Loathing their disappointments

When I see a dim future

Lighted by the beauty of sin

Guided by her love

Finding acceptance

Drawn  from my painless shadow

Thrown into a world of turmoil

Thrown into a world of love

Living life for real

Taking a unseen path into her heart

Living life in Reality…..

LOVE LETTERS
       BY: LIZ COURVILLE

He's writing love letters in his heart

You can see it in his eyes sheen he looks at her.

He looks deep inside her soul

Where her love is never cold.

You can feel it in the air

This passion that they share.

There's an energy between them

That words could not describe-

Together they'll move mountains

Forever side by side.

She's seeing love letters in his heart

You can see it in her eyes when she looks at him.

She looks deep inside his soul

To a love that makes her whole.

He brightens any darkness

His love will be her fortress.

He's writing love letters in his heart.

DADDY MAHONEY
WRITEN BY SAMMY M. MAHONEY

When I was little I just wanted someone to love me,

When I was little I just wanted someone to protect me,

Then you finally reached out to me,

When I was grown I just wanted an apology a little sign of regret,

When I was grown I just needed the strength to reach back,

After a few months I realized I still needed you, and you still needed me,

I told people I wanted you to give me away on my wedding day,

Before I had the chance to tell you I was pregnant, you passed away,

Since then I decided not to get married,

I had a baby boy named Drake Ramon Mahoney,

Yes, he has your last name, yes, he has your ears,

I hope he knows how much I love him,

I hope you know how much I loved you,

I will help my son find his way, and I know God will help you find yours,

Forget all your regrets and remember,

One day you'll have your children and grandchildren with you,

Daddy, I love you,

I want you to know I forgive you for not being there when I needed you,

I hope you will forgive me for not being there when you needed me,

Please rest in peace, and always remember your family does love you.

"Forever"
Linnette

-I want to love every part of you,

to curl up nest to your voice and marry your smile,

and run away with you and love your shadowy places.

-I want to know everything about you,

all the untamed emotions, what makes you happy,

what you were like when you were little.

-I want to be there with you the times when you feel most alone,

to hold you and kiss your tears,

and tell you all the kind words that you should have been told.

I'll whisper every one into your ear until you truly believe that life has changed for the better, every moment that you live, think and breathe in it.

-I want to fly with you and fall for you, walk with you across the bridges and along the edges. Lay my world down, right here and now and live in your eyes forever!

My Old Purse Died
daphne

My old purse died,

In the cover of dark night,

As old as a tortoise,

With no strength to fight.

Daddy’s words still in my mind,

"go and give it a bath!"

But I put it off

Until I finally lost the chance.

The only thing I feel no regret

Is his belly full of money.

At least I’m sure that

He won’t starve in the heaven holy.

Farewell, my old purse,

Start your infinite repose.

Farewell, my dead purse,

With all my bless this compose.

The Change of My Life
Ray S.

I almost forget when I had the first period.

It was a like dawn in my life.

It gave me thousands possibilities,

but it also gave me millions troubles.

I almost recall when I had the last period.

It was a like sunset of my life.

I had spent all savings of my possibility,

but also still have a lot of troubles.

I'm sometimes, no no so often, depressed.

I know the reason, but you would never figure out.

I'm sometimes, no no each time, thirsty of you.

I know the reason, but you would never find out.

When I take a night gown off,

I put my lips to your ear, and whisper.

"It's the change of my life."

~!~

Wish there is someone waiting for me

someone who understand and make me see

the beautiful thing that surrounds me freely

someone who is full of hope and loves me truly

those are the words I usually say

when I watched the sunset at the end of the day

where the place is peaceful that makes me stay

to a friend whom to the Lord I pray

till I found that someone I've been lookin' for

I told God there's nothin I could wish more

for loneliness had walked out through the door

and happiness lead my way to the most beautiful shore

So, to that someone, I really really care

for everything we know to each other we share

that someone protects me from any nightmare

and me, as a reply, for that someone I will always be there

that someone was the best I ever knew

because she made my life change into something new

I know you'll be surprised if I'll tell you

'coz that someone I'm saying is nobody else but you...

I cried for the people that lost there lives,i cried for the children that parents had to die.i cried for the men that that worked hard to save people like you, even if you were white, black,or a Jew. I cried for the people that died and went to heaven, I prayed for the people of 9/11

"A GOLDEN TUNE"
BY KEN AMARO.

"I saw her walk among the glades

in reflections of the brightest moon

not a ripple had she made

to herself she sang a golden tune-

this voice she had of perfect pitch

could bring me to my knees

and she would grant my only wish

this woman made for me-

a crown of flowers she did wear

with silver rings on every toe

I kept a chain made of her hair

and of this she will never know-

I love her face by firelight

and as we sit beneath the trees

I know that everything is right

for on this we had both agreed-

just like a kitten she would purr

rose petals cast upon the floor

never alone we knew we were

and wreath of pine hung on the door-

the rest of my days I spend with her

this is what I promise you

this image of the way things were

a story based on fact is true".

REMINDER
Stephanie Laterza

On the other side of the subway map

I call my mother from the wooden room I rent

With red romantic curtains to pretend it’s grown up sentiment

To explain what’s wrong and remember why even wrong I deserve pride

My mother’s clucking laughter assures a love as obvious as the sun

Sunshine is what you are mine always baby doll

No matter how far you’ve ridden El trains to escape the way I hate the way you come home late and don’t call

You call tonight from that room you’ve decorated to make yours since you’ve loved red

Since you were four in the red velvet dress

After the man whose arms remind you of Daddy

Has left and put you in the corner to cry

From the shame of challenging his words

We both know I am in fact a constant contact since you are mine

And from the blood of my own belly you sprung as from a poppy filled planet

With hands as small as a cherry fairy when it wasn’t patronizing to be that small

You are mine and even when wrong deserve pride.

My ancient gods looks down upon me

what has happened, forgotten are we

Tor let your thunder sound

so they say.

I hear the sound from the sky

and drink some more of this, my fine wine

admire all that beauty from above.

Now Oden Speaks with anger in his voice

Tor let your lightning strike

punish this man who shows us spite

or so they say.

I smiling see this flash from above

missing my house, with rather much

i raise my glass and think, this is nice.

So they descend, my ancient gods

and speak to me with angry hearts

i let them taste this fine old wine

so we get drunk, the gods and me

or so they say.

Who We Are
Josep Puoplo

Far off in distant lands you will find us.

On scattered bases around the world we reside.

     Our nomadic way of life.

On ships floating across the many seas, we wait with deadly purpose.

We left behind happy and familiar faces.

Lives we used to live seem so distant from what we are now.

     Warriors.

Sacrificing love and life for those who remain behind, safe and

     Protected.

We are called to defend, to be killers and nothing more.

Lives of this Nations' future are guaranteed with our blood.

We charge and defend and live to charge again.

Each one of us is different and from different places.

Made to become one in life and in death.

Eating, breathing, sleeping and falling alongside one another.

Coming to the aid of one another as we are a family in our new lives.

One dies and a piece of our whole is taken.

Once and always we are connected in memories and nightmares.

     Blood shared.

We march in never before seen or heard of places.

Coming back with a sorrowful closeness.

Our names can be read on rosters and in history books,

     And on many a gravestone.

Our sacrifices give life to peace for those back home.

And to those who come after us.

You will see us in magnificent blue,

Guarding our nations leaders and ambassadors.

You will see us in drab green,

Receiving and awarding honors and medals.

If you hurt us, you will see us in flat colors of green, brown and

     Black coming for you.

It is said that we have hard nerves and ruthless determination.

It is said that we have expertise in death and destruction.

It is said that we are brainwashed machines.

In fact, we are human defenders of the beliefs of a great nation

     Who take pride in excellence.

     We are United States Marines.

LIFE
Alicia Miller

Love can be a hurtful thing either between a boy and girl or just family

Another thing;

life is also hurtful, because life may not go the way as planned, so don't get your hopes worked up too high in just one thing, because it will always come back to you

And...

it will slap you right in the face and when it does you will know it's there because you could feel it coming before

You

can't always wish upon a star for love,or for life, you have to let time take it's course because soon your wishes for a happy lover or a great life will come to you, so don't go out looking for them or you will end up in a hole in the ground

Then..

one day your true love will come, and you will have life in the riches, right beside him in Holy Matrimony

Mariner’s Fate
Daniel Penisten

The old man is withered; the storms of life have taken their toll,

His eyes squint into the depths; the sea has claimed his soul.

They declare he’s a loner, family and friends left far behind.

He’s a peculiar character owning nothing, but memory unkind.

His lot is cast by the society detesting his breed.

For those he’s forsaken, forever he grieves.

His legs sway to the rhythm of the rolling sea.

The shores left behind never again to see.

His heart pulses brine at each pounding wave.

Remorse courses his veins, to his thoughts he’s enslaved.

Gales, typhoons and shipwreck are the fate to which he’s prone.

Roaming the world in search of purpose, his destiny unknown.

When his life is over there will be no marker made of stone.

Only the deep of a watery grave will know he is gone.

MEMORIES OF HOME
Peter Addo

Inside the gate the smell of strong tea in the air

With burnt toast and real butter

Outside the gate, strong cinnamon and nutmeg.

But I preferred the neighbors who

Cooked rice, plantain and pepper sauce

And the other that made me nauseous at times,

Fried curry rice and herbs.

But I could stand the garlic

And onions from the other side

As I wondered how many bags of onion could smell that strong.

The dawn came each morning and the sun was never late

With the dew drops on the grass

And those insects who have ventured into the light

Now lying helpless on the ground,

Struggling to recapture their lost flight

Before the crows and other birds

Make a feast of them.

FRIENDS
GunBritt Engström

The Earth, Tellus, our home in space..

a big little place..

hanging on Atlas's shoulder.

Can hardly be seen in universe

but contains many.. yes, much!

Imagine, if you knew everybody..

could unwrap your arms and say -

MY FRIEND... everywhere!

but...

the reality is that..

All my friends - and they are still many,

contains in a whirl on

Atlas fingerprint..!

Treat me like a princess

Treat me like you care

Treat me like a goddess

Because that's very rare.

It's hard to find a guy

Who will make you feel great.

Most guys act like big brats

That's what I really hate.

But if you treat me like I'm wonderful

and treat me like you want me

and treat me like I'm beautiful,

then I'll know you love me.

And when I see you love me,

It makes me love you more

That's how love should be,

And that's what I'll love you for!

Live the naked eternity
Bobby Hamby

ask questions about dirt needles

and live the naked eternity

spend time with a broken wet girl

then die and kiss a ghost

it's like a moist boy

after just one breath

take a bath in a nude swirl

and drink healthy caramel sex

leave at inappropriate times

then drown and hate reality

it's just the push and pull

of hypodermic mud

wonder about subspace

live the naked eternity

stay in the corner of your eye

then go and piss some blood

cause i'm just a porcupine

that fell in love with a pincushion

"on four post-it notes"
laura s

all the pretty horses have gone to bed.

never would i tell your secrets to them.

maybe big brother knows all,

but i know everything.

do you think maybe i'm wrong?

do you think maybe i can afford to live like this?

do you need to improve your words on my betty page drawings?

or is it me who's writing this all down?

warped brains, and broken bodies-

crumpled to the floor.

pay attention to those things you don't care about.

as her naked tattooed body falls to the ground past the abyss, her movie star gloves begin to fall off with the weight of such sudden death.

"The Glimpse"
Harry Hyman

Would you take the grand step 'cross the sky

             to stars whose sparkles beckon

and sever the umbilical cord of gravity,

              be awed by planetary majesty,

         embrace God's endless cosmic tapestry

and escape Earth's pull each second?

Then step on soil of a distant star,

            mere footprints at Heaven's gate.

Curious you were to journey there

to catch a glimpse of God so rare

and brave new worlds with absent fear

              on time for Destiny's date.

A faint echo of a tiny whisper

in the thunder of Time is Man,

a trembling leaf on an outstretched branch,

a blade of grass on dry land,

a corner patch on some crazy quilt

            where good and evil reign.

But Greatest wonder your relentless search

to jump the stars in a single lurch,

to sit on God's cosmic perch,

And view the Earth again !

Shattered
Kevin D LeMaster

At night he rides,

the captain of himself but not others.

Driving in my car I hear his voice,

masterful and cleaver, but saying nothing.

Mother makes him happy,

this shiftless, restless man.

Like a fly to the light,

he led blindly, but fervently.

He kept tulips and other flowers in the yard,

but the beauty never took and was the great facade.

A superhero to me,

he fell from the sky, as did my dream

Just thinking
OWEN MARX

Thinking along those uncertain lines, you know the type

half wishful thinking... the other parts based so firmly in reality

that they are an unfortunate impossibility.

I've seemed to have lost the ability to dream...

that strictly youthful pursuit.

So instead I spend my days thinking about dreaming, too frightened to try

This is an interesting irony.

When I was younger dreams are all I had...

and I wished I wouldn't get so caught up

Now here I am wishing my cynicism would leave

So I could have those dreams again

because I have nothing

I want to be swept away

FALLING...
Tabitha

Drifting into shadow filled dreams, twisted images swirl into black filled streams.Clouded thoughts of endless nights,im once again falling into this delusional flight.Soon my mind releases my inner thoughts, and in this falling i am caught.Darkness has now engulfed me through sleepy eyes,as my body twitches rejecting sleeps falling skys.Fighting the nights inevitable to keep me from falling,i hear a faint whisper of daytimes stalling.Weightless in this dark elusive rapture,a sudden feeling of serenity as my dream is captured. My eyes lazy as they open now daylight is calling, but darkness will come again and i will be falling...

RIGID REJECTION
BY GEMMA TOMKYS

No polite conversation

No "it's not you"

Just a blank voice

And a "This is what i have to do."

No apologies or thought,

No "can we just be friends."

Just harsh words,

And a "This is where it all ends."

No traces of affection,

No shadow of regret.

Just an immediate confession,

Your point of view set.

No connection, no intimacy,

No talk about our fears.

Just a few sentences,

Which have reduced me to tears.

No memories shared,

No truth only lies.

I used to know you,

Now you're just a stranger with nice eyes.

MY LIGHTHOUSE
BY CHAD FLEAGLE

My heart is in distress

Crashing about a violent storm-ravaged ocean

The jagged rocks beckon

Threaten to break my heart like the bow of a great ship

You are my lighthouse

Calling out to me from across the darkness

Sweeping your great light across the distance

Guiding me to the shore

Keeping me from the rocks

Calling me to your embrace

The warmth of your kiss

My lighthouse

The Old One
By: Jennifer Overman

The tree is very high

All the way up in the sky

It's a peaceful day

But loggers are making their way

Towards this tree forever

But I won't give up, never

This tree is old

Loggers are getting bold

I need to save this tree

But not just for me

It has a right to live

I will never give

This tree will stand

touching my hand

forever

and ever...
